Houston philanthropists, artists, designers and loyal supporters attended the Great Age Movement’s 2nd Annual Jazz Luncheon on June 3, 2018 at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston. More than 200 guests helped the Great Age Movement pursue their goals this year to help fund senior playgrounds in green spaces and develop programs led by volunteers who will promote health, learning and socialization.
Emceed by local PBS host Ernie Manouse, the luncheon began with a jazz performance by Bubba McNeely Duo, which played a tribute to famed musician Duke Ellington. The event honored Joanne King Herring, international socialite and global political activist; Mercedes Ellington, a legendary choreographer, dancer and granddaughter of Duke Ellington; and Buzz Aldrin, former astronaut, author and philanthropist. Staci Henderson and Barbara Reyna were this year’s co-chairs with Dr. Carolyn Farb, h.c. and Peter Martino as the honorary chairs.
Guests enjoyed brunch; performances by Dance Force Productions; a special ballroom dance performance by Mercedes Ellington and Antonio Conde of River Oaks School of Dancing; and silent and live auctions featuring exotic trips, luxury goods and live paintings by Patti Lennon Potter and Edgar Medina. Fine jewels were on display by Peter Martino.
The Senior Resource Guide was a proud sponsor of this event. Guests received free copies of the Senior Resource Guide.
