AustinUP and the City of Sunset Valley welcomed approximately 125 attendees on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at the 50+ in ATX Job Fair held at Brodie Homestead.
The free event had approximately 24 exhibitors matching available job opportunities with workers who are 50 and older. Participating employers included Assisting Hands Home Care, BBVA Compass, Cater-2-U Home Health Care Services, LLC, City of Austin, Meals on Wheels Central Texas In-Home Care, ReServe, Inc., Right at Home, Sonesta Bee Cave Austin, United States Census Bureau, YMCA of Austin and more.
Attendees also enjoyed complimentary refreshments and a presentation on "Don't Talk Like an Old Person" given by renowned speaker Kathy Lansford-Powell.
Today, the Austin area has the nation’s fastest-growing population of people between 55 and 64 and the second fastest-growing population of people 65 and over. By creating these job fair opportunities, AustinUP is working to enlighten business leaders and human resource directors about the strengths of older adults in the workplace, as well as the value of a multi-generational workforce. Their next job fair will be held on September 10 at the Jewish Community Center.
The Senior Resource Guide was a proud sponsor of this event and provided free copies of the Guide to attendees.
