May is here and that means Cinco de Mayo time!
It also signals that it's time for outdoor entertaining with margaritas! But for many it means sitting and watching others while they enjoy one of Texas most favorite summer libations.
If you love a good margarita but are watching your calorie or sugar intake, then try one of these recipes.

My Oh My Margaritas
Approximately 350 calories (regular margarita may have 750 calories+)
Ingredients
- 1 packet of Crystal Light Citrus Splash or Lemonade
- 12 oz. Tequila (diabetics might consider agave)
- 16 oz. cold water
- 6 oz. Gran Marnier another orange liqueur (be sure to check sugar content)
- 1oz Lime Juice (fresh or bottle)
- Ice
Directions
Mix the crystal light with water. Add the tequila, orange liqueur, and the lime juice. Mix. Add ice as desired. Salt glass rim as desired.
Low Carb Margarita

Ingredients
- 1 shot tequila
- 2 Tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 tsp. orange extract
- 1 Tablespoon Splenda (or sweetener of your choice)
- A small handful of ice
- Salt (for the rim of the glass, optional)
- Lime wedges
Directions
Combine the tequila, lime juice, water, orange extract, and Splenda in a cocktail shaker with ice in it. Shake well. Rub lime slice around rim of glass and dip glass in salt (optional). Pour contents into glass and garnish with lime wedge.
