Virtual Event: HIV and Aging Educational Series
Come learn about senior services and HIV services and build connections for referrals and support on Wednesday, November 18.
This event is part of a bi-monthly educational series of six sessions put on by a collaborative group of AIDS Services and Aging Services organization representatives. This month's session is "Learn About The Resources" given by Paul Scott, vice president of Texas Vivent Health, formerly ASA (AIDS Services of Austin); and Rob Faubion, AGE of Central Texas.
Social work CEUs will be provided. To see the event flier, visit here.
As you know, the great news is that people with HIV are living much longer. However, because of this increased longevity, they're becoming people who may need, along with HIV services, services from aging service providers as well. The 2018 data for the Austin area indicates there are 3,143 people living with HIV in the age group 45 to 64, with this group totaling 48% of all people in the Austin area living with HIV. Additionally, 7% of those individuals living with HIV are 65 or older.
This event is FREE to attend and will be held virtually via Zoom. Register here or email info@agingiscool.com.
