Join in for this four-part series providing hands-on techniques for daily care of a person with dementia. Taught by veteran memory care director Steve Catoe, these classes will feature methods pioneered by dementia care experts Teepa Snow and Naomi Feil.
Part 4 of this series concludes on Tuesday, September 4 and introduces the new topic Communication Skills: Using the Feil Method of Validation.
During this class you will:
- Learn a method of communicating with disoriented older adults known as validation that is built on an empathetic attitude and a holistic view of individuals that helps reduce stress, enhance dignity and increase happiness
- Learn to “step into the shoes” of your loved one and “see through their eyes” in order to understand their world and the meaning of their sometimes bizarre behavior
