Join Brookdale Spicewood Springs on Thursday, August 27 to identify impairments related to a low vision diagnosis.
This course given by Maria Crescini, PT, director of program development at Brookdale Home Services, provides discussion on how low vision will impact an older person’s ability to function independently and safely. It also covers interventions, strategies and planning, including the use of assistive devices, modification in the home setting and use of assistive technology.
Following this presentation the participant will be able to:
- Identify medical conditions that can cause low vision in older adults
- Assess visual function and identify physical and functional limitations resulting from vision loss
- Design intervention strategies for the person with low vision to use the remaining vision and activities of daily living
- Identify adaptive low vision aids, assistive technology and environmental modifications to maximize the use of remaining vision
