Virtual Event: 2020 Quality in Long-Term Care Conference
Texas Health and Human Services, in collaboration with The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing, is hosting a free conference on quality in long-term care on August 31-September 1. Continuing education hours will be available for 18 disciplines besides nurses.
Gain professional focus on topics such as dementia, mental health, intellectual and developmental disabilities, aging, trauma-informed care and technology related to disabilities, as well as current health care issues like opioids and functional independence.
Information relevant to multiple health care disciplines, community providers, family members and individuals, including trauma-informed care, palliative care, aging and person-centered care will also be provided.
The featured speakers include:
- August 31 at 10:00 a.m.: "Reimagining Dementia" presented by Susan Wehry, MD, chief of geriatrics at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, author of Oasis 2.0
- August 31 at 1:00 p.m.: "The Secret Sauce -Thriving in Times of Change" presented by Meg Soper, RN, president at NGU Incorporated
- September 1 at 9:00 a.m.: "All Hands, All Hearts, All In!" presented by Christopher Ridenhour, GNF
- September 1 at 1:30 p.m.: "Resident-Driven Memory Care Communities: A Model for Person-Centered Care" presented by Cameron J. Camp, Ph.D., director of research and development at Center for Applied Research in Dementia
